Letter from Obama to the Family and Friends of Frankie Knuckles
The death of Frankie Knuckles, the godfather of House, has led to a number of tributes in recent weeks, but now he has received a special one from a good friend of him: President Obama. Obama helped declare that August 25th was Frankie Knuckles Day in Chicago back in 2004, when Obama was just an Illinois state senator. A few days ago DJ David Morales, whose Def Mix agency represented Knuckles, has posted to Facebook the letter that Knuckles’ family and friends received from Barack and Michelle Obama. You can read the letter below. Certainly, his loss is going to be impossible to repair. It was more what record the people wanted to hear after the record he was playing, and what was gonna take the energy up, up, up. That was one of the things that made Frankie so special.
